Pauline Weldon Spirit of CANN Award

Beginning June 2016, CANN will recognize a member(s)/honorary/associate member(s) in good standing for the Pauline Weldon Spirit of CANN Award. This award is granted to an individual(s) who demonstrates exceptional disposition and spirit in the areas of advocacy, teamwork, volunteerism and passion for neuroscience nursing, over the course of their nursing career. Pauline was an active volunteer and a mentor to many. She was a lifetime member of CANN holding many Board of Directors positions and certifications in neuroscience nursing, MS nursing, and research nursing.

Jessie young certification Bursary

The Jessie Young Certification Bursary was established to promote continuing professional education in line with the mission and vision of CANN. This bursary provides financial support to qualified CANN members to pursue CNA Certification in Neuroscience Nursing. The bursary may be awarded to one or more individuals depending on available funds.

marlene reimer research award

The Marlene Reimer Research Award was established to promote neuroscience nursing research in line with the mission and vision of CANN. This award provides financial support to qualified nurses to pursue a research project focusing directly on neuroscience patient care issues relevant to the scope of nursing practice in Canada. Amount awarded is determined yearly. The award may be awarded to one or more individuals depending on available funds.

CANN abstract award

The Canadian Association of Neuroscience Nurses established the CANN Abstract Award to promote continuing professional education in line with the mission and vision of CANN and to facilitate the attendance of members at the Annual Meeting and Scientific Sessions.

This award provides funding for one conference registration for the author(s) of one of the accepted abstracts for the Annual Meeting & Scientific Sessions. Conference registration (Early bird Member rate only) reimbursement will be given to the successful applicant following their concurrent or poster presentation at the Annual Meeting & Scientific Sessions.

CJNN authors awards

All authors who submit a paper that is published in CJNN, who are not receiving another CANN award (Codman Award, Medtronic Award, or Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada Award for Excellence in Neuroscience Nursing) are eligible for the New Authors Award, or General Authors Award.

medtronic award

The Medtronic Award will be presented to the author or authors of a written paper, which demonstrates the achievement of excellence in the area of neuromodulation or neuroscience nursing clinical practice. It is expected that the money will be used to assist the recipient with travel expenses to attend the annual meeting to present their paper.

The Codman Award will be presented to the author or authors of a written paper, which demonstrates the achievement of excellence in the area of neuroscience nursing research. It is expected that the money will be used for professional development.

Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada Award for Excellence in Neuroscience Nursing

This annual award was presented to a member of the Canadian Association of Neuroscience Nurses (CANN) who demonstrated excellence in neuroscience nursing related to brain tumours. Established in honour of Pamela Del Maestro, RN, BSc, CANN member and a co-founder of Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada, the award included the publication of the winner’s paper in the Canadian Journal of Neuroscience Nursing.
