Research Committee Report

December 2011

There had been no submissions for the Marlene Reimer Neuroscience Research Award this fall. The deadline for submissions had been set for early fall and then reset to December 1. Notification of the revised deadline was sent out to membership via councilors and executive. Unfortunately December 1 brought no new submissions. The research committee agreed to a one time extension to April 1 2012 pending approval from the board of directors. This extension was granted. Again notification of the extension has been posted on the CANN website, circulated to the board members and will be included in the winter edition of CJNN. Again thanks to the BOD as well as our webmaster and editor of CJNN. They all went above and beyond.

The research committee submitted their comments and suggestions to the research chair who will bring the committee input for discussion to the mid-year board of directors meeting. Submission dates will be reviewed and established for the 2012/2013 award. Also the chair has requested that discussion around the award take place at the meeting. If members are interested in submitting comments to the research chair they are welcome and the contact email is on the website.

The chair respectfully thanks the committee members who have agreed to review proposal submissions at this altered date and have their recommendations and discussion ready for the June meeting. It should be noted that each committee member has vested interest in both seeing the award granted and neuroscience nursing research promoted.

On behalf of the research committee we wish to extend our wishes for a Merry Christmas, Joyous Season and Happy New Year. Above all take time for family and be safe.

Sincerely
Patti Gallagher
Chair
